The Wicklow Community Games Talent Finals brought a vibrant showcase of young performers to Hollywood on March 29, with participants from across the county competing in a wide range of artistic disciplines. From singing and music to drama and dance, the event highlighted both emerging talent and strong community spirit.
In the Solo Singing Under-13 category, Mia Irvine of Lakeside took top honors with an impressive score of 89 points, comfortably ahead of Brie Willis and Beau-Jolie Keogh from Westside. The category demonstrated strong vocal performances, with tight competition among the top entrants.
The Solo Music Under-13 competition saw Leah Osborne from Shillelagh claim first place with 81 points, while Malachy Ayton (Westside) and Cuan McDermott (Aughrim-Annacurra) followed in second and third respectively.
In Solo Recitation, Arklow performers dominated the top two positions, with Juliette Dempsey winning first place on 85 points and Lucy Geraghty securing second. The category was one of the most competitive of the day, with only a few points separating the top five contestants.
Dance also drew strong participation, with Ciara Byrne from Aughrim-Annacurra winning the Modern & Disco Under-13 category, followed by Sophia McEvoy of Lakeside.
In the older age groups, Alexis Cunningham of Lakeside secured first place in Solo Singing Under-16, while Matilda Ayton of Westside topped the Solo Music Under-16 category.
Group performances added a collaborative dimension to the event. Arklow entrants excelled in drama, winning both Under-13 and Under-16 Group Drama/Comedy categories. Lucy Geraghty and Síomha Ní hAmhrigín took first place in the younger group, while Juliette Dempsey and Georgia Redmond claimed victory in the older division.
The results reflect a high standard of performance across all categories, with several areas—particularly Arklow, Lakeside, and Westside—consistently producing top contenders.
Organisers praised the participants for their dedication and creativity, noting that the finals not only celebrate talent but also foster confidence and community engagement among young people across Wicklow.
Adding to their success on the day, Arklow secured the overall Talent Cup with an impressive 36 points, reflecting their strong performances across multiple categories. Westside finished in second place with 28 points, rounding off a competitive and entertaining event that showcased the very best of Wicklow’s young talent.
